Golf Cart Accident Cases in Las Vegas, Nevada
Golf cart accident lawsuits
Golf carts may seem like a fun and easy way to get around, but as far as safety is concerned - they lack many safety features that all cars have.
Not only do golf courses use golf carts. Today, businesses like shopping malls, amusement parks, car dealerships, college campuses, parking lots, airports, apartment complexes, and residential communities use golf carts as a form of transportation.
Accidents involving golf carts do happen. Some golf cart accidents are severe enough to cause emergency room visits.
If your golf cart accident resulted in a severe injury, call us at 702-432-1000 to discuss your case. We may help you receive compensation for your medical bills and other damages.
Laws in Nevada: What to know
a) If the carts are used as general transportation, the golf cart owner must have a DMV permit and insurance.
b) The golf cart owner is responsible for knowing what roads are permissible for golf carts' operation.
c) In a county with a population of 700,000 or more, a golf cart permit is required. Furthermore, these golf carts must be inspected at a DMV VIN Inspection Station (at Full-Service Offices) before first-time registration. There is a permit fee involved. The golf cart's permits expire on Dec.31 of each year.
d) You must provide a Nevada Evidence of Insurance card at registration. Renewal notices are mailed in early December each year. You may renew by mail or in person.
e) The golf carts do not require a driver's license to operate.

Why do golf cart accidents happen?
The lack of safety features found in golf carts significantly contributes to golf cart accidents and injuries:
- Golf carts don't have seat belts or airbags.
- Weight distribution in golf carts is often uneven, and they can easily tip over.
- Driver intoxication, recklessness, or inexperience may contribute to golf cart accidents.
Some golf cart accidents cause only minor injuries (scrapes, bruises, cuts, or a whiplash), while others result in broken bones, spinal cord injuries, concussions, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), neck, and back injuries, and even death.
Who is responsible for the golf cart accident?
Under Nevada law, the at-fault party (or their insurance) is financially liable for a victims' injuries and related losses. Often the inappropriate behavior of a golf cart driver is the cause of an accident. In some cases, when the driver is a teenager or a child who doesn't know how to use a golf cart safely, a parent or guardian may be accountable.
If the driver was a golf course employee, the golf course or the country club might be found responsible.
Other parties who could be found liable:
- The golf cart manufacturer,
- The golf cart maintenance crew,
- The owner of a golf course,
- The private property owner who didn't maintain the roads,
- The company hired to manage the golf course or a country club.
Passengers are usually not at fault.
There could be more than one party responsible for an accident.
In some cases, the victim can file an accident liability claim against the at-fault driver's homeowner insurance.
