Finding Free Parking on the Strip
Las Vegas, Nevada
Solving the parking problem
One of the best ways to avoid parking fees on the Las Vegas Strip is to skip driving altogether. So, if you're coming to Las Vegas for a vacation, a business conference, a trade show, or to watch a sporting game, don't bring your car. Instead, use Uber, Lyft, taxis, or public buses to get where you need to be. You can even walk along the Strip, which could be a lot of fun!
If you are a tourist with a burning desire to drive in Las Vegas, you can rent an electric car delivered by teledriver remotely to your location. Later, when you no longer need that rental car, the teledriver will bring the car back to the warehouse, and you don't need to worry about parking. There are a few companies that offer these services in Las Vegas.
However, if you are a visitor staying at the hotel on the Las Vegas Strip and looking for places to park your car for free, keep reading this article.
Parking at the hotel & casino
Since 2016, most Las Vegas hotels have charged for parking. Some hotels (but not ALL) offer complimentary self-parking to their guests. Remember that hotels can change their parking policy at any moment, and we recommend calling each hotel beforehand and asking about the current parking situation.
Here is the shortlist.
• Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino: Self-parking is always complimentary and FREE.
• Circus Circus: Free parking for hotel guests and visitors. Valet parking is available.
• Fontainebleau: Self-parking is part of the Resort Fee for hotel guests.
• Treasure Island: Free parking for hotel guests.
• Encore: Complimentary self-parking for all Wynn, Encore Resort, and Tower Suite registered guests. For non-registered guests, the daily parking fee is $20 per day, with the first three (3) hours free.
• Hooters (now OYO)(close to the Strip): Free parking for hotel guests.
• Planet Hollywood: Caesars Rewards members who are Platinum, Diamond, or Seven Stars receive complimentary self-parking.
• SAHARA Las Vegas: Free parking for hotel guests.
• South Point: Free parking for hotel guests.
• Treasure Island: Free parking is available for hotel guests only.
• Circus Circus: Complimentary for all guests and visitors.
• MGM Resorts: (Bellagio, ARIA, Vdara, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Delano Las Vegas, Park MGM, NoMad Las Vegas, New York-New York, Luxor, and Excalibur) 0 - 24 hours parking $18 for registered guests. For non-registered guests, it costs more.
Parking at the shopping malls
At the shopping malls on the Strip, free or almost free parking is available during mall hours of operation.
Fashion Show: Free self-parking and valet parking.
Town Square Las Vegas: Low rates for parking, not free.
The Shops at Crystals: Complimentary valet parking is available during mall hours.
Rewards programs
You can get free parking if you are an MGM Resorts International rewards member, a Caesars rewards member (at the Diamond, Platinum, and Seven Stars levels), or Wynn rewards members in the Chairman, Black, and Platinum Tiers.
When booking a hotel, ask if the hotel accepts your award program. If you plan to visit Las Vegas often, consider joining one of their reward programs.
If you are a veteran
Military members and veterans who are cardholders of the Caesars Rewards Salute program are eligible for free parking at Caesars hotels.
Parking during special events
It is worth noting that hotels and shopping malls may impose EXTRA parking fees in their garages during special events, like Super Bowl week.
Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix
Parking on the Strip is minimal during the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Rideshare users should expect longer wait times, sharply increased fares due to high demand, and severe road congestion during the Formula 1 event.
If you plan to drive to the Strip to watch Formula 1 car racing, anticipate severe traffic disruptions, road closures, especially between 5 p.m. and 2 a.m., and significantly increased parking fees.
Fremont Street Experience
The Fremont Street Experience parking garage is at 111 S. 4th Street, Las Vegas, Nevada. The fee is $4 per hour with a daily maximum of $20.
Sporting events in Las Vegas
The T-Mobile Arena and Allegiant Stadium charge parking fees of $15 to $55 when you buy a ticket for the event.
Parking to see a show on a Strip
If you need to park your car, you pay to reserve a space at the parking lot when you purchase a ticket to a show, concert, or musical festival.
Parking at the restaurant
Most of the indoor restaurants in Las Vegas offer free parking. Beginning August 15, 2023, metered on-street parking in the Las Vegas Arts District is free Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
If you want to stay after 1 p.m., the City of Las Vegas offers two contactless payment options for parking meters with Flowbird and ParkWhiz apps.
Street parking
Street parking is sometimes available on specific streets in the downtown area and usually after 6 p.m.
Parking for locals
Las Vegas residents can receive three or four hours of complimentary self-parking in some hotels on the Strip, but not all of them. However, it's important to note that these policies are subject to change. So, if you live in Las Vegas, call the hotel directly and ask if they will allow you to park your vehicle in their lot for a few hours for free.
NRS 4848B.450: Nevada Rules on Stopping and Parking
It is important to remember that in Las Vegas and Nevada, you can only park your car in a designated area, especially in Clark County (the City of Las Vegas and the Strip area are part of it), where parking space is limited.
This rule applies to all drivers.
I am not a Las Vegas resident. Do I have to pay a parking ticket?
Yes, you have to pay your parking tickets. Failing to do so could lead to higher fines and the potential for police intervention. Unpaid parking tickets can also hurt your credit score, which could impact your car insurance costs. You can pay your parking tickets online.
I am a foreigner. Can I ignore a parking ticket issued in the U.S.?
No, you can not. You may have some immigration consequences. You will probably be able to leave the country, and it is up to the country you are visiting to allow you to enter.
However, you may have a problem if you need to return to the U.S. Speak with an immigration lawyer for more information.
Final thoughts
Ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are a way to avoid parking fees or deal with parking tickets.
However, if you come to Las Vegas by car and must keep the vehicle in a garage while staying in a Las Vegas hotel, try to make a reservation at the hotel that includes free parking as part of the Resort Fee.
Things change very fast in Las Vegas, so when booking a hotel, ask if complimentary self-parking is available for the guests.
