Turo car accident coverage
Drivers: Turo does not require the driver's insurance coverage to book a car on their marketplace. If you have car insurance, liability insurance offered via Turo's insurance partner(s) will supplement your existing coverage.
Some Hosts on the Turo marketplace have opted out of the Turo protection plan and offer commercial rental insurance directly to the drivers. Usually, these are big companies with a big fleet of cars and business car insurance. The Host's insurance policy covers drivers who book those vehicles.
Passengers: If you are a passenger injured in a Turo car accident, your injuries are covered by:
1. At-fault driver's insurance (first line of coverage)
2. Turo's liability insurance (up to $1 million) or the Host's commercial plan (if they opted out)
3. Your own insurance (last resort)
Pedestrians: If you are a pedestrian who is struck by a Turo vehicle, the source of coverage depends on who caused the accident:
• If the Turo driver is at fault, the pedestrian's injuries are covered by Turo's $1 million liability policy or the Host's commercial plan.
• If another driver caused the crash, their auto insurance pays first. Typically, Turo's insurance only steps in if the Turo driver shares some responsibility.
Renting a Turo car through the Uber app: What to know
As of August 2025, you can rent a Turo car directly through the Uber app. However, this convenience creates a unique insurance issue:
• Uber's insurance policy does not apply to these rentals.
• In the event of a crash, the Turo accident policy is in effect, not Uber.
So if you're injured while riding in a Turo car booked through Uber, your claim will be handled under Turo's rules, not Uber's.
No uninsured/underinsured coverage in Nevada
One thing to know: Turo car insurance in Nevada doesn't include coverage for uninsured or underinsured motorists. If an uninsured driver hits you, you'll likely need to rely on your UM/UIM policy or health insurance.
Where should the insurance claim be filed?
You always file an injury liability claim in the jurisdiction where the accident occurs. So, if a Turo car accident happens in Las Vegas or Nevada and somebody gets seriously injured, an attorney licensed in Nevada must file your insurance claim. It doesn't matter if you were driving, riding as a passenger, or walking as a pedestrian.
Expected compensation
Your Turo car accident settlement depends on:
• How severe your injuries are.
• How much medical treatment is needed?
• Who is at fault?
• The insurance policy limit.
No two accidents are identical, so if you got injured in a Turo car accident and want to know what compensation to expect, call us at 702-432-1000 to discuss your case.
If you are partially at fault
Nevada uses a modified negligence rule, which applies to all Turo car accidents where the victim is partly responsible for the collision. It means that if you were less than 51% liable for an accident in which you got injured, you could still sue another party.
Can I file a claim myself?
Yes — if it's just property damage. If your car was damaged, but nobody was injured in an accident, you can deal directly with the other driver's insurance company.
However, if your Turo car accident in Nevada resulted in a severe injury, it is better if a car accident attorney files a claim on your behalf. Peer-to-peer car sharing is a new thing, and the Turo car accident claim process can be very complicated. The settlement process may take much longer than a regular car rental company, mainly because more than one insurance company is involved in the lawsuit. Also, some accidents may have multiple victims and multiple vehicles.
Accidents with multiple victims
Like most car accidents, when a Turo accident involves numerous victims, each person files a separate accident liability claim against the Turo or the Host company's commercial insurance.
Multiple vehicle accidents
It makes no difference for a liability claim whether there are many vehicles or just one vehicle involved in a Turo car accident in Las Vegas or Nevada. The liability claim is based on the victim's medical bills, lost wages, damaged property, and pain and suffering.

Who pays the settlement?
The Turo rental car accident settlement comes from:
• The Turo driver's insurance
• The Turo Host's commercial policy
• Turo's liability insurance
• A third-party driver's insurance (if they caused the crash)
Time limits to file a Turo car accident claim in Las Vegas
Under Nevada law, typically, you have two (2) years from the incident date to file your claim. All Turo car accidents fall into this category.
When out-of-state visitors get involved in a Turo car crash
If you got injured in a Turo peer-to-peer car-sharing accident in Las Vegas, Nevada, and you are not a resident of Las Vegas, you will continue with your treatment in your home city and state.
We handle car accident claims for out-of-towners all the time. In most cases, the clients do not fly back to Las Vegas. We collect all medical records and track the progress of your Turo car accident case, from inception to settlement, in our Las Vegas office. We will mail the settlement check to you when we settle the case. We answer any questions you may have via ZOOM or phone.
When foreigners get injured in a Turo car accident in Nevada
When you're from another country, things can be more complicated. If the injured person ends up in a Las Vegas hospital and is treated for injuries in the US, the insurance claim will be based on the US hospital bills. Being compensated for medical treatment in another country might be more difficult, mainly because the medical field in other countries works very differently from the US. A medical treatment approved in other countries may not be accepted for reimbursement in the US, and the cost of medical care is different, too.
Our no-fee promise
We take all Turo car accidents on a contingency basis, which means you don't have to pay a penny unless we settle the case or receive monetary compensation at the trial. We never take on legal claims that we can't add value to. If you can't likely get more money by hiring us, it doesn't make sense to hire an attorney at all, and we will tell you that.
