What is a party bus?

A party bus is a large vehicle typically designed to carry between 16 and 40 passengers and is generally used for birthday parties, corporate events, bachelor parties, bachelorette parties, quinceaƱeras, proms, school dances, to and from sporting events, concerts, and shows.

Basic party bus rules

In Las Vegas and Nevada, you can bring and drink alcohol on the party bus. Usually, you are allowed to bring a large number of one specific item (for example, beer) in cans. Only plastic glasses and bottles are permitted. Those consuming alcohol must be 21 years of age or older and have a valid I.D..

Children are allowed for special events like Prom or High School Dance Parties, but alcohol is not permitted at the events for children.

What is a party bus accident?

A party bus accident refers to any collision or traffic incident in which a party bus is involved. While party bus accidents are relatively rare occurrences, their impact can be devastating.

Liability waivers

Most of the time, the party bus operator asks you to sign a liability waiver.

Liability waivers are not the end of the world. There are many situations when the liability waiver does not apply, especially when the driver is responsible for the accident. If you signed a liability waiver and got seriously injured in a party bus accident, call us at 702-432-1000.

Who is liable for a party bus accident?

Determining liability in party bus accidents can be complex. Potentially liable parties include the negligent bus driver or the company for improper vehicle maintenance. Mechanical failures may hold the manufacturer or maintenance provider responsible. Additionally, other vehicle drivers could be liable for causing a party bus accident.

In Las Vegas and Nevada, the negligent party is financially responsible for all damages. It includes medical bills (past, present, future), property damages, lost earnings, pain and suffering, and PTSD. Sometimes, multiple parties are responsible for a party bus accident.

Party bus insurance

According to the Nevada Motor Carrier Regulation, vehicles that do not cross Nevada State Lines must carry $1,500,000 in liability insurance for party buses with 1-15 passengers and $5 million in liability insurance for party buses with 16 and more passengers.

If you were partly at fault

Nevada uses the rule of modified comparative negligence, which means - you could collect compensation from all other at-fault parties if you were less than 51% responsible for the accident. So, if you suffered an injury on a party bus and were partly at fault, you still could be eligible for accident compensation, but the amount will be smaller. Usually, plaintiffs who were under the influence of alcohol or drugs fall into this category.

The 5 things to do if you get in a party bus accident

• Seek Medical Attention: Prioritize your health and seek medical attention for any injury.

• Document the Scene: If possible, gather information at the accident scene, including taking photos, collecting witness contact information, and noting details.

• Preserve Evidence: Keep relevant evidence, such as medical records, photos, and accident reports.

• Contact Authorities: Report the accident to the police and obtain a copy of the accident report.

• Consult Legal Help: If you believe someone else is at fault for the accident where you got injured, consult an attorney. We invite you to call us to discuss your accident.
